EXTRACO RELOCATES TO ALLARIZ AN ADAPTED MODERN PLANT TO MAXIMISE THE MANUFACTURING OF AGGLOMERATED ASPHALT

About 40 people work in the asphalts division, dedicated to manufacturing of material for the preparation of roads and the making of new infrastructures.

Extraco has relocated its agglomerated asphalt manufacturing plant in the town of Allariz, Orense (Earlier situated in Melide, A Coruña) whose premises are prepared to produce up to 220 tons of bituminous mixtures in hot by hour, regardless of humidity conditions. A dry cleaner (trommel) and a bag house filter of the latest model guarantee some high levels of production, regardless of the humidity registered at every moment.

The factory, which depends on the Asphalts Division, is being under analysis and study towards the improvement of its productivity and energy efficiency, contributing to enlargement of the R&D lines developed by the company. The possibility of increasing performance of the plant is also being analysed, diversifying production with the fabrication of bitumen’s rubber and with the recycling of asphalt.

The installation often receives visits from groups of university students (in the image, students of the E.T.S. Ingenieros de Caminos de A Coruña who attended the complex in Melide in 2011) who were shown the production process for bituminous mixtures.

The company carries out an analysis of the quality of the materials produced in its own laboratory which is situated at its headquarter in Orense. At these premises, up to 20 controls of different qualities can be carried out, guaranteeing appropriate production and in compliance with the CE marking for manufactured materials.
