Extraco carries out the expansion of the prison in Colón, Panamá

Extraco carries out the expansion works of the prison of Colón, Panamá, after having been awarded with the construction works promoted by the Ministry of Government and Justice of the Central American country. The Panamanian Department of Architecture and Engineering was in charge of its draft project.

The project involves the construction of new buildings that will house different areas: cells pavilion, canteen and other cells pavilion, administrative areas, requisition and waiting rooms, cafeteria and rooms for guard duty and monitoring of the prisoners. It also includes the building of four new watchtowers that will provide the facilities with the most modern penitentiary security measures and the demolition of several dilapidated buildings.

The budget for the construction works, located in the avenue Simón Bolívar of the city of Colón, goes up to three million dollars. The construction works will help ease the current saturation of the previous prison by accommodating 240 new inmates.
