Extraco supports the educational project “Un mar de saberes” launched by the Town Council of Soutomaior

Extraco collaborates with the Town Council of Soutomaior (Pontevedra) on an interesting educational initiative aimed at promoting the knowledge of marine ecosystems among students.

The support provided by the company established in Ourense is directly related to the management of the Wastewater Treatment Plant located in the town of Arcade, which relies on the Temporary Joint Venture between Extraco and Asteisa. Technicians working for the construction company show the students around the facilities of the plant (the image shows students in the last year of Primary Education from the public school Manuel Padín Truiteiro, in Arcade) so that they can get familiar with the sewage treatment process before it is dumped into the sea.

This educational project is known as Un mar de saberes (“An ocean of knowledge”) and is being promoted by the Town Council of Soutomaior, funded by the Group Acción Costera Ría de Vigo-A Guarda (Coast Action on the estuary Vigo-A Guarda), and developed by Trespes Cooperative. Besides these guided tours, there are walking tours along the coast of Arcade, which will allow visitors to get further information on the fauna, flora and characteristics of the ecosystems lying at the bottom of Vigo’s estuary.
