The preliminary results of ALFILLER and TOPACIO projects, led by EXTRACO, presented at international congresses
As the third and last year of projects ALFILLER and TOPACIO progresses, the results of their development materialize. Part of those results were presented at two international congresses in September. Both projects are led by EXTRACO and were selected in the competitive call for R&D projects, CONECTAPEME 2018, by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN). The projects are financed by this body and also receive ERDF funds.
The prelimilary results of “ALFILLER: Value of the recovery filler obtained in asphalt plants for the development of cement-based eco-products” (Ref. IN852A 2018/39) were presented at “REHABEND 2020: Euro-American Congress on Construction Pathology, Rehabilitation Technology and Heritage Management“. These results were presented through the paper “Design of sustainable solutions for precast concrete blocks”, written by researchers of the Construction Group (gCONS) of the University of A Coruña (UDC) and by technicians of the companies Prefhorvisa, Renga Enerxía, Galaicontrol and EXTRACO, who participated in the research. The paper showed the optimal concrete dosage for precast blocks, which are currently being used to build real scale prototypes. REHABEND, a congress that is held bi-annually and organized by the Construction Technology and Management Group of the University of Cantabria, was expected to be held in Granada last May. It had to be postponed due to COVID-19 and it was finally held online on September 28 through 30.
As for “TOPACIO: Technologies to Optimize the management of infrastructures for forest fire prevention” (Ref. IN852A 2018/37), the results obtained during the first half of 2020 were presented at the VIII Virtual Congress on the History of Communication Routes, held online on September 15 through 30. The paper “TOPACIO: New tools for managing transport infrastructure and preventing forest fires” was written by technicians of Aeromedia, San2, Conexiona and EXTRACO and presented different results regarding the hybridization of non-destructive inspection techniques used in the project (LiDAR for land and aerial vehicles, satellite images, precise weather information and a specific “citizen sensor” app). These control tools were validated in different roads managed by EXTRACO, in real scenarios of the Ourense province. The VIII Congress on the History of Communication Routes is held annually and organized by the “Orden de la Caminería de La Cerradura”, Association located in Pegalajar (Jaén), the Diocesan Historical Archives of Jaén and the Junta de Andalucía.
