The fair Innovacarretera undertakes a R&D&I project lead by Extraco

Extraco attended the 30th edition of the Semana de la Carretera (Week of the Road) held at the end of October in Santiago de Compostela, one of the most prestigious congresses in Spain on road infrastructures, promoted by the Regional Government of Galicia and organized by the Asociación Española de la Carretera (AEC, Spanish Road Association), in collaboration with ATC (Road Technical Association) and Asefma (Spanish Association of Asphalt Mixture Manufacturers).

The event’s six main challenges were: redefining the network management and conservation model, reducing the number of accidents, solving exploitation issues, responding to the pending technological challenge, guaranteeing efficient and sustainable mobility and tuning in with the citizens’ concerns.

One of the new features of this edition was the parallel celebration of the fair ‘Innovacarretera’, an event organized by the PTC (Spanish Road Technological Platform) that consists on the demonstration of innovative products and services used in road infrastructures. Extraco was an active participant and presented one of their R&D&I products: ‘TOPACO: Optimization Technologies for infrastructure management to prevent wildfires”.

Together with Extraco, other companies were a part of this research: Conexiona, San2 y Aeromedia, as well as Grupo de Geotecnologías Aplicadas (GEOTECH) of the Universidade de Vigo (UVigo) and Centro de Investigación Forestal de Lourizán, as outsourcing research centers.

TOPACIO was selected in the Conectapeme 2018 competition by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) of the Regional Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry of the Galician Regional Government in order to receive funds from the aforementioned organism and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (Dossier IN852A 2018/37).
