Extraco will carry out the construction works for two young offenders’ institutions in Panama

Now that the President of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela, has submitted the orders to proceed in order to start the works, Extraco will build two centers for young offenders in Panama – the Transition Center in Pacora for juvenile offenders and the Basilio Lakas Detention Center in María Chiquita, in the province of Colón.

In both cases, the company will be responsible for drafting the project, managing the municipal approval, studying the environmental impact of the project and finally constructing the buildings.

The Transition Center in Pacora will house 108 young offenders and will have three accommodation pavilions, a control booth, an infirmary, a kitchen and a canteen, three classrooms for theory and three for workshops, two multi-purpose sports grounds, workshops, internal streets and paths, two surveillance towers, and all the necessary service infrastructures for the complex.

The Basilio Lakas Detention Center will house 72 young offenders and it will have three accommodation or sleeping pavilions, a school, a control booth, an infirmary, a kitchen and a canteen, a multi-purpose sports ground, a soccer field, a chapel and surveillance towers.

Extraco has developed other projects in Panama, including the Nueva Esperanza Penitentiary in Colón, the sanitary sewage system in Parita, the watering and draining system for the mountains in the district of Boquerón, or the water duct and water treatment plant in the district of Pozos.
