Three R&D projects led by Extraco, selected in the Conecta Peme 2018 call

The Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN), dependent on the Department of Economy, Employment and Industry of the Regional Government of Galicia, has selected three research projects led by Extraco to be co-financed as part of the Conecta Peme 2018 call for R&D&I funding. These projects are “Alfiller”, “Geo4Radón” and “Topacio”. All of them will also receive financial support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for their implementation.

The “Alfiller” project aims to analyze the possibilities of the recovery filler obtained in asphalt plants for the development of cement-based eco-products. Researchers from the Construction Group (gCONS) of the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineering of the University of A Coruña collaborate in this project.

The objective of “Geo4Radón is to predict and improve the geothermal heating and cooling systems and analyze the influence that drilling has in the diffusion or radon gas, with the participation of researchers from the department of Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engines and Machinery and Fluids of the University of Vigo.

Lastly, “Topacio” is aimed at developing new technologies to optimize the management of infrastructures for forest fire prevention, in collaboration with the Applied Geotechnologies group (GeoTECH) and the Energy Technology group (GTE) of the University of Vigo.

The “Alfiller” and “Topacio” projects began last March, whereas “Geo4Radón” started in April. The three projects are scheduled to be finished by September 2020.
