The Technological University of Panama commissions a new building to Extraco

Extraco S.A. will build a new building for the Technological University of Panama, consisting of classroom facilities for the Regional Centre of Chiriquí. The Vice-chancellor of the educational institution (UTP), Héctor M. Montemayor gave the preceptive “notice to proceed” a few days ago to Jorge Carballo Cabezas, representative of Extraco. During the event, the details of the works, to be started in a few months and executed in 26 months, were presented.

This state-of-the-art building will have three floors and will host an auditorium with capacity for 400 people, 35 classrooms, a library and a cafeteria. It will be fitted with a basketball court, parking spaces, access control of vehicles and an electric gate. Urbanization and landscaping works will be carried out, building squares and sidewalks, and irrigation and wastewater treatment systems will be installed. Once built, Extraco will also take on with the installation of the furniture and equipment for the common areas, outdoors, classrooms, office, library, laboratories and cafeteria.

The event was also attended by the General Coordinator of Regional Centres of the UTP, Brenda Serracín de Álvarez; the Director of the Regional Centre of Chiriquí, Abdiel Saavedra; the General Director of Engineering and Architecture, Javier Navarro; and other teachers and members of the university.

This is not the first time that Extraco works for the Technological University of Panama. Last year, it was awarded an important contract for the design, building and fitting of buildings for the enlargements of the regional centres of Coclé, Azuero and Veraguas.
